Volunteering at HFC
At HFC we have lots of different volunteering roles and we value the hard work and time our volunteers put into helping run our church. Whether it be in the kitchen, behind the scenes planning, dancing with the children or one of the many other roles needed to help faith grow in our community.
Below you will find descriptions of some of the many volunteer roles we have. We always have more volunteering opportunities and spaces on many of our teams. If you are interested in joining any of our volunteer teams, please do contact us at- admin@honitonfamilychurch.co.uk
or speak to a trustee after the Sunday service.
Tech Team

Know your way around a laptop, like to dabble with sound & lighting, or even just enthusiastic about all things tech, this could be the team for you. The tech team work on a monthly rota and take it in turns to help with the sound and vision side of the service, including things like working the mic levels, playing videos and displaying the song lyrics (plus probably a lot more technical things, that I don't understand at all).
Children's Work

Our Children's workers look after the youngest members of the congregation, including our creche (0-4) and our kids work (5-11). Our volunteers help to plan & run fantastic sessions for our children, helping them to know the word of God through bible stories, crafts and games. Be prepared to get a little messy- do you know how many bible stories involve water?
Worship Team

Music is at the heart of our worship and we start nearly every service with a worship session and also end our services with a final hymn, therefore having a great worship team is really important to our church. Our fantastic team takes it in turn to lead worship and they play a mix of instruments. They also have the occasional rehearsal session and have even been known to teach us the odd new song or two.
Refreshments

At HFC our refreshment teams handle serving our morning drinks and welcoming everyone into church. Our refreshments teams work a little differently to our other teams. Each week a different life group takes on this role. They also take it in turns to provide and serve breakfast for our breakfast services. Want to join a life group and help, speak to a trustee.
Youth Work

Our youth work team support our children aged 11+, helping them to explore and go deeper in their faith. Sessions involve lots of great discussions and normally a fair few rounds of toast. Whilst camping is not compulsory, if you do like the great outdoors, this is the team for you- where possible we like to take our youth to local events and camps, giving them chances to meet other young Christians and delve further into the bible.
Fundraising & Outreach

We are blessed with being right in the heart of our local community and our fundraising and outreach team love to put on events for that very community, from harvest suppers to Father Christmas' Grotto with lots of other things in between. They have regular planning meetings, advertising campaigns and much more.
Trustees

As a member led baptist church our trustees help to guide us, they are the organisers, the supporters, the believers. From a diverse background, they use their many skills and give up their time to help keep the church going. They meet regularly with one & another and with the whole membership, to pray and plan.
Safeguarding

Currently we have two designated safeguarding roles within our church as well as safeguarding training for all volunteers who need it.
The first role is the DPS (Designated Person for Safeguarding), currently this role is held by John Braithwaite. We also have a Safeguarding Trustee, this role is currently held by Helen Charters.
Lettings

Our fantastic lettings team sort all our hall and room bookings. Working with lots of local groups and charities. Showing potential new groups around our facilities, sorting letting paperwork and being a point of contact for all external bookings. They also man the letting emails and liaise with the church admin to make sure we don't end up with any booking clashes!
